Rather than face rejection at the box office director Apoorva Lakhia and his team have decided to postpone the release of Shraddha Kapoor’s Haseena Parkar…yet again. This is the fourth time that the release date has been postponed. The most recent date fixed for release was 18 August. The date has been further moved forward. Explains director Apoorva Lakhia, “There is no point in trying to get into the current clutter of releases. We all can see what is happening to all the films that are coming out. If we came on August 18 we would have Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal and Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha behind us. Akshay’s film has tax exemption. Why should we do something as suicidal as to release our film at a time when the competition is not only tough, but impossible to cope with?” He has a point, right?
Let’s not forget, even Shah Rukh Khan was initially to release Jab Harry Met Sejal along with AK’s Toilet however he smartly preponed it to August 4, to avoid getting the box office divided. In fact, he had even spoken about this decision saying, “I think whenever you can, it’s nicer for both films. If you can’t, then you have to release on the same date because when you are looking for alternate dates so that two films don’t come on the same day, you request and talk to each other. And mostly what we do on the big ticket films is that since our films are expensive and big, my logic has always been that if it (date change) can be done, it’s nice.”
